I am a military wife, mother of two, sister, daughter, artist and designer.
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela to an Italian mother and a Cuban father, who urged me toward the United States to learn English soon after I graduated high school. My father’s one-year experiment became the next chapter of my life.
I fell in love with the Windy City and attended Chicago’s Illinois Institute of Technology where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Design. I was privileged to study in Mies van der Rohe’s Crown Hall where I was influenced by the Bauhaus movement (as well as the city’s late-night Latin dancing scene).
Following graduation and four years of work in Chicago at a small design firm, I started a new journey when I married a Navy officer. Together, we packed up seven times in 16 years, living in six different cities on two continents and an island, all the while as I was pursuing my passion for effective and compelling design. Among our accomplishments during this time we created two beautiful daughters, the source of our greatest pride.
When I’m not glued to my computer working on new designs, or driving my girls from activity to activity, I relax by creating stained glass artwork, practicing Bikram Yoga or vacationing in the Caribbean (or anywhere the water is warm, the beach is soft, and the drinks come with umbrellas).
